Banana Butter Cups S1 x Gorillato | The fusion of banana, gas and frost
With K40 , we present a cross in the Limited Drop Series #002 that is visually in a league of its own. The foundation is our selected Banana Butter Cups (BBC) lady – an original S1 known for her extreme frost tolerance. She was pollinated with our proven Gorillato Reversal (GG4 x Gelato 33) . The name K40 is an homage to the radioactive potassium isotope that occurs naturally in bananas – and that's exactly how the plants look: they glow under the light with an almost unnatural density of trichomes.
Genetic basis: Banana Butter Cups S1 (mother) x Gorillato (Reversed Female)
The K40 offers an exciting quest for the perfect phenotype. Most offspring exhibit strong Gorillato dominance : they grow robustly, are easy to care for, and yield up to 600g/m² under optimal conditions.
However, those seeking the ultimate BBC phenotype should pay attention to the fine details: These plants can be identified early on by their significantly narrower leaves and a characteristic reversed triangle structure (widening towards the top). While these specimens produce slightly less mass, they compensate for this with an even more extreme resin layer and the pure aroma of banana peels.
🍌 The chemistry of the banana: Isoamyl acetate meets creamy gas
What makes K40 special is the interplay of terpenes and esters. Isoamyl acetate is dominant – an ester responsible for the distinctive banana aroma. Interestingly, this is the same substance that gives certain beer styles (like wheat beer) their fruity scent. In K40, this "banana ester" blends perfectly with the creamy-sweet gas notes of Gorillato to create a complex, almost artificially sweet profile.
✅ Performance and Urban Seedlab Grower Tip
Grower expertise: To get the maximum resin yield from the K40, we have a crucial tip: For perfectly healthy plants , we recommend lowering the relative humidity (RH) to approximately 40% during the last two weeks of flowering . This targeted dryness forces the plant to maximize resin production as a protective shield for the flowers. The result is an unparalleled "end-game frost."
